What is — LL-37

LL-37 (cathelicidin LL-37) is the C-terminal active fragment of the only human cathelicidin, hCAP18. It is a 37-residue, cationic, amphipathic peptide widely used as a reference antimicrobial peptide (AMP) in laboratory research. Peptworks supplies it as a lyophilized 5 mg powder in a sealed vial for research use only (RUO). It is a laboratory research reagent, not a medicine, supplement, cosmetic or medical device, and is not intended for human or animal consumption.

In research models, LL-37 behaves as a cationic amphipathic peptide that adopts an alpha-helical conformation upon contact with anionic surfaces such as microbial membranes. Its net positive charge favours electrostatic association with negatively charged phospholipids and bacterial cell-wall components, after which membrane insertion and permeabilization are observed in vitro. Beyond direct membrane activity, the published literature also describes context-dependent interactions with host cell receptors (for example formyl-peptide-receptor-like pathways) that are studied as models of immunomodulation, chemotaxis and cell signalling. All of these mechanisms are characterized strictly in preclinical, in-vitro and animal research settings.

Research

  • Antimicrobial-peptide (AMP) mechanism studies against bacterial, fungal and viral models in vitro
  • Bacterial biofilm formation and disruption assays
  • Wound-healing and tissue-repair models (cell migration and re-epithelialization in vitro)
  • Angiogenesis and endothelial-cell behaviour in culture
  • Innate-immunity and immunomodulation signalling models
  • Membrane-interaction and peptide-lipid biophysics
  • Structure-activity relationship (SAR) work on cationic peptides

Advantages

  • In vitro membrane-permeabilizing activity against a range of microbial model organisms, used as a positive reference AMP
  • Disruption of biofilm formation in laboratory biofilm assays
  • Promotion of cell migration and re-epithelialization endpoints in cultured cell wound-healing models
  • Modulation of pro- and anti-inflammatory signalling readouts in innate-immunity cell models
  • Effects on endothelial-cell behaviour used as a model of angiogenesis
  • Well-characterized, reproducible reference peptide for comparative AMP and structure-activity studies

Safety

  • Cytotoxicity toward mammalian cells reported at higher concentrations in vitro
  • Hemolytic activity against red blood cells reported in some assay conditions
  • Context-dependent pro-inflammatory readouts described in certain cell models
  • Reported concentration- and cell-type-dependent effects on proliferation in various cancer-cell research models
  • Activity that is sensitive to assay conditions such as ionic strength and serum, complicating cross-study comparison
  • Hygroscopic lyophilized material sensitive to moisture and repeated freeze-thaw during handling

Ideal for

  • Laboratories running antimicrobial-peptide screening and mechanism-of-action studies
  • Research groups studying biofilm disruption and membrane biophysics
  • In-vitro wound-healing, tissue-repair and angiogenesis research programs
  • Innate-immunity and immunomodulation signalling research
  • Distributors and white-label brands stocking a reference cathelicidin for the research market
  • Comparative and structure-activity (SAR) studies requiring a well-characterized reference AMP

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy LL-37 in bulk in the EU?

Peptworks supplies LL-37 (cathelicidin LL-37, 5 mg lyophilized vials) wholesale from stock already held inside the EU. Because orders ship intra-community, there are no customs formalities and delivery typically takes 3-5 business days. Peptworks is a B2B research-reagent supplier and sells only to businesses; the product is for research use only (RUO) and is not sold to end users.

What is the wholesale price per vial of LL-37?

LL-37 (5 mg) has public per-vial pricing with combined-volume discounts applied to the whole order: 100 units at EUR 27.00/vial (base), 300 units at EUR 22.14/vial (-18%), 500 units at EUR 20.25/vial (-25%), and 1000 units at EUR 18.36/vial (-32%). Only one tier applies, based on your combined total units across references; discounts are not stacked.

Can I order white-label (private-label) LL-37?

Yes. LL-37 is available two ways: unbranded bulk vials, or white-label vials labelled with your own brand and boxed. White-label carries a one-time label setup fee of EUR 180 for orders under 100 units, which is waived from 100 units. Vials ship in boxes of 10, and each box carries the Peptworks label with a unique QR code linking to that batch's Certificate of Analysis.

What is the minimum order for LL-37?

The minimum order is 10 units (1 box) per reference; vials ship in boxes of 10. Volume discount tiers begin at 300 combined units, while orders below 100 units carry the EUR 180 label setup fee for white-label. Payment is by USDC bank transfer / invoice; no card payment is taken on the site.

How is the LL-37 Certificate of Analysis verified?

Each batch ships with an independent Certificate of Analysis covering HPLC purity (≥98%) and heavy-metals testing. The box carries a unique QR code that links directly to that batch's CoA, and the record can be checked through Peptworks. This lets you and your own customers confirm identity, purity and batch traceability before resale.

How is LL-37 shipped and stored?

LL-37 is supplied as a lyophilized 5 mg powder in a sealed vial and ships from EU stock in 3-5 business days with no customs step. As a research reagent it should be handled by qualified personnel and stored per standard peptide practice (cold storage, protected from moisture). It is not a medicine, supplement, cosmetic or medical device and is not for human or animal consumption.
