Research Use Only (RUO) peptides in Europe: what you need to know

How research peptides (Research Use Only) are framed in Europe: what RUO means, reseller responsibilities and notes on GLP-1 and hormonal compounds.

What RUO means

Research Use Only means the product is not a medicine, supplement, cosmetic or medical device, and is not intended for human or animal consumption, nor for diagnostic or therapeutic use.

Reseller responsibility

Buying to resell, you take on responsibility for complying with your destination market's regulations, for the final labelling, and for not directing the product to human consumption. Your website and label must reflect the RUO framing.

Sensitive categories: GLP-1 and hormonal

Some references (GLP-1 analogs such as semaglutide or tirzepatide, and hormones) may be subject to country-specific restrictions, including patent protection. Verify the legality of purchase, import and resale in your jurisdiction and, when in doubt, consult a legal advisor.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell RUO peptides to consumers?

The RUO framing is for research and not for human consumption. B2B sale to resellers is standard; directing the product to human consumption falls outside the RUO framework.

Do GLP-1s have restrictions?

They may, by country, including patent protection of semaglutide or tirzepatide. Legal review before commercializing is advisable.
